9.5 Descriptors

Whole graphs can be used as referents. For example:

  (Past)->[Situation:
             [Person: John]<-(Agnt)<-[Kiss]-
               ->(Benf)->[Person: Mary]
          ]
  "John kissed Mary."

Here, the conceptual graph

   [Person: John]<-(Agnt)<-[Kiss]->(Benf)->[Person: Mary]

is the referent of the concept with the type "Situation". Thus a graph can be used to fill the slot of the referent. This is called a descriptor because it is used to describe the concept.
