16.16 Being self-sufficient: Answer

Answer for "Being self-sufficient"

      [Man]- - -[Island]

Any of the following would do:

  • The following proposition is false: There exists a Man, who is coreferent with an Island.

  • The following proposition is false: A man is an island.

  • No man is an island.

Note also how this example shows the subtleties of language which are so difficult to capture in a computer. This example certainly doesn't do justice to the sentence "No man is an island"; the meaning of this sentence is not fully captured in the CG above.
